ERC Conferences
The ERC Global Conference is the only global convening of its kind in which states, development cooperation agencies, civil society, international organizations, philanthropic foundations, and other relevant stakeholders come together to advance LGBTI human rights and inclusive development.
About our conferences
The Equal Rights Coalition was launched at the Global LGBTI Human Rights Conference in Montevideo in 2016, at which the 30 founding Member States of the ERC were announced. The Vancouver conference in 2018 marked the first conference under a fully operational ERC and provided opportunities for high-level diplomatic engagement, working-level collaboration, and network-building among ERC stakeholders.
Under the co-chairship of the UK and Argentina, a virtual conference was held in July 2021 to launch the ERC 5-year Strategy, and a hybrid conference was held in Buenos Aires in September 2022, to deliver on the ERC’s strategic priorities and provide space to discuss cross-cutting issues related to LGBTI rights.
The most recent edition of the ERC Conference was held in December, 2024 in Berlin, and was chaired by Mexico and Germany. This was the most highly attended ERC Conference to date, with over 500 participants from member and observer States, multilaterals, international organizations, and global, German, and Mexican civil society, as well as journalists, and academics. It was the first Conference planned with the support of the ERC Conference and served as the occasion to transfer the co-chairship to Colombia and Spain.

The most recent ERC Conference took place in Berlin on 17-18 December, 2024 under the theme ‘Countering the push-back’.

Berlin 2024
‘Countering the push-back’, representatives from Member States met alongside civil society to assess the current landscape of LGBTI rights and freedoms.

Buenos Aires 2022
The Equal Rights Coalition conference was held on 8-9 September 2022, in Buenos Aires, Argentina and online. The conference served to highlight what had been done over the 3-year mandate of Argentina and the UK, focus on the execution of the ERC Strategy and Implementation Plan and the delivery of the ERC’s strategic priorities and operations, discuss cross-cutting issues related to LGBTI rights, and pass the baton to the incoming co-chairs (Mexico and Germany).

Online 2021
A virtual ERC conference, hosted by the State Co-Chairs (the United Kingdom and Argentina), was held on 6-7 July 2021. This event focused on launching the ERC's 5-year Strategy and Implementation Plan.

Vancouver 2018
Leaving No-One Behind: the Equal Rights Coalition Global Conference on LGBTI Human Rights and Inclusive Development took place from 5-7 August 2018 in Vancouver, Canada, under the co-chairship of Canada and Chile.

The Global LGBTI Human Rights Conference was held from 10-15 July 2016 in Montevideo, Uruguay.
